8 Days Lemosho Route Kilimanjaro

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be greeted by our team and transferred to your mid-range hotel in Moshi. You'll have a briefing with your guide to go over the details of your trek and ensure you have all the necessary gear.

After breakfast, we'll drive to the Lemosho Gate (2,385 m) where we'll start our climb. The Lemosho trail winds through lush rainforest, where you might spot wildlife like colobus monkeys and exotic birds. We'll camp at Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,750 m) for the night.

Leaving the rainforest behind, today's climb takes you into the heather and moorland zone. You'll ascend through breathtaking scenery, catching glimpses of Kilimanjaro's majestic peaks. As you climb, you'll notice the landscape changing, with sparse vegetation giving way to open vistas. Your camp for the night is Shira 1 Camp (3,505 m), offering stunning views of the Shira Plateau and surrounding landscape.

Continuing your ascent, you'll climb Kilimanjaro across the Shira Plateau, a high-altitude desert landscape with panoramic views of the mountain. This day serves as an important acclimatization opportunity, allowing your body to adjust to the increasing altitude. Keep an eye out for unique plant life adapted to the harsh conditions of the plateau. Tonight, you'll camp at Shira 2 Camp, nestled beneath towering rock formations.

ACCOMMODATION NAME: SHIRA II CAMPSITE (3,850M)

Our journey continues across the Shira Plateau, offering expansive views of the surrounding landscape. We'll pass through the high-altitude desert terrain, where the air is crisp and the vistas are breathtaking. As we descend towards Barranco Camp (3,950 m), we'll be treated to stunning views of the iconic Barranco Wall, which we'll conquer the following day.

Conquer the Barranco Wall, a challenging yet exhilarating segment of the route. Traverse alpine desert terrain to Karanga Camp (3,995 m), nestled in a sheltered valley beneath the towering cliffs of the Barafu Ridge.

ACCOMMODATION NAME: KARANGA CAMP (3,995M)

As the sun rises over the Karanga Camp (3,950 m), we prepare for a day of adventure. Our journey begins with a thrilling scramble up the iconic Barranco Wall, a highlight of the Lemosho Route. With each step, we gain elevation and are rewarded with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. After conquering the wall, we continue along the trail, traversing the southern circuit amidst the alpine desert terrain. Finally, we arrived at Barafu Camp (4,673 m), our base camp for the summit attempt. Here, we rest and prepare for the challenging ascent ahead, soaking in the beauty of the mountain under the vast African sky.

Before dawn, we'll embark on the challenging ascent to Stella Point, where we'll witness a breathtaking sunrise over the glaciers. From there, it's a steady climb to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), the highest point in Africa! After celebrating our achievement, we'll begin our descent to Mweka Camp (3,100 m), where we'll spend the night.

ACCOMMODATION NAME: MWEKA CAMP (3,100M)

On our final day, we'll descend through the lush rainforest to Mweka Gate (1,640 m), where you'll receive your summit certificates. Our team will transfer you back to your mid-range hotel in Moshi for a well-deserved rest and celebration of your remarkable achievement.

After breakfast, you'll have some free time to relax or explore Moshi, depending on your departure schedule.
