You are not required to bring mountain hiking gear as most necessary clothing and equipment can be rented from the recommended outdoor shops in Moshi. However, it is advisable to bring your own well-worn boots, clothes, and a reliable sleeping bag. Ensure your small day pack has sufficient space for wind and rain attire, a first aid kit, 3 liters of water, and snacks. Your packing list should include warm clothing (fleece, wind and waterproof layers), quality polarized sunglasses, sunscreen, and a headlamp.
