ITINERARY: Mount Meru Day Hike Tour | Arusha National Park
Morning
- 6:30 AM - 7:00 AM; Arrival and Registration: Arrive at the Momella Gate, where you'll need to register and obtain any necessary permits for the day hike.
- 7:00 AM - 8:30 AM; Hike to Miriakamba Hut: Begin your ascent from Momella Gate to Miriakamba Hut. This part of the trek offers stunning views of the surrounding landscapes and wildlife.
- 8:30 AM - 9:30 AM; Explore Miriakamba Hut Area: Take a short break at Miriakamba Hut, enjoy the scenery, and explore the surroundings. You'll be able to see the Meru Crater and some wildlife.
Midday
- 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM; Summit Attempt to Socialist Peak: Start your ascent towards Socialist Peak. The trail becomes steeper, and you'll be surrounded by alpine vegetation. Reach as high as you can within the time frame, considering your fitness level and the weather.
Afternoon
- 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM; Lunch: Have a packed lunch at a suitable spot on the trail. Enjoy the breathtaking views of Mount Meru and the surrounding landscape.
- 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM; Descent: Begin your descent back towards Miriakamba Hut. Take your time and enjoy the scenery.
Late Afternoon
- 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM; Return to Momella Gate: Descend further to Momella Gate. Admire the changing landscapes as you make your way down.
Evening
- 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM; Debrief and Certificate: Visit the park office at Momella Gate for a debriefing and, if available, receive a certificate for your day hike.
- 5:30 PM; Departure: Depart from Momella Gate, taking with you the memories of a challenging and rewarding day hike.
